y=5-2x

2007-08-08 11:58:12 · answer #1 · answered by biotechman1135 2 · 0 0

2x + y = 5
y = 5 - 2x
Simply move the 2x to the other side of the eqation and change its sign from - to +. That leaves y all by itself and you have solved the problem in one simple step!!

y = -2x + 5

If you know what x is, you can solve it all the way through. So if x was 5, you would have:
y= -2 (5) + 5
y= -10 + 5
y= -5

But if you don't know what x is, that's the furthest you can solve it.

get a tutor, or ask your teacher to help you learn because when (if) you get to trig, you will be even more confused.
