I am going to take flack on this but here goes.
As individuals -- strictly speaking we all do have equal rights.
But as homosexuals vs heterosexuals we are descriminated against by the imposition of law governing the contractual recognition of our domestic unions. It is a civil law problem that covers more than 1000000 laws regulations legal decissions. The like below I have included to make this part a short answer.

by our constitution, we are all supposedly created equal...but because of the ultra right-wing bigots, we are not allowed to marry, are still discriminated against when it comes to housing and jobs (and can even be fired for simply being gay in many states). with the current administration, all men are created equal...as long as they are white, heterosexual, Christian Republicans. what do I do? I belong to HRC, I vote, I right/email politicians and sign petitions. until we have the equal rights as guaranteed by the Constitution, I will fight for the right to have them!

They don't have equal rights because of bigots and homophobes. Many people claim that the Bible says that LGBT is wrong, although the New Testament says NOTHING about it. The Old Testament laws were trumped when Jesus died. This also plays in with laws--many politicians believe that LGBT marriage is wrong, and base their beliefs on the Bible. This is a violation of the separation of church and state!

What do you mean? You were offered Civil Unions, which would have given you everything except the word 'marriage', yet your leaders rejected this. Why is a word so important to you, especially since it would require redefining it to keep it accurate? Just like 'gay'. You don't sound very happy to me.

I'm for starting a full civil rights movement just like what the african americans did back in the 60's, way I see it that's really our only option left.

I think we are going on a strike or a "gay out" until we get our rights... What do you think will happen if we do that?
