You should study Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science so that you know what you are writing about.

You should also take some writing classes so that you can write clearly.

Getting a law degree with a masters in Environmental Science would also be a good idea.

You should know some studies on the enviroment, especially the earth and global warming and the effects so that would be all sciences plus some english to do with structure and maybe some Journalism on how to get the story and there might even be a peticular degree in that field of policy writing, I would check some colleges to see and maybe even try to find one to ask and see if that helps. I would probably suggest Journalism alot because you are writing for magazines and such plus you need knowlage of all sciences. Good Luck!
