I think NASCAR races are far more intelligent than funny-car races! ;)
Okay, I'll admit that was a bad joke!
There are plenty of dumb people of all races. Sometimes, the easiest way to spot them is by the questions they ask! ;)
No more jokes!
Intelligence or education according to one standard may not apply in all situations. To some, "street smarts" is more important than "book smarts". Do so-called, "primitive" tribesman need to know the capitals of the world or how to determine Pi to the 10th place? Can a "rocket scientist" fend for himself on a deserted island?
If you grow up in an environment that values education and intelligence, then, yes, that environment may, potentially, make you smarter (assuming you *want* to learn or are capable of learning, of course!). If that "environment" extends to a given group of people - - whether by race or location - - then, in a broad sense, yes, that race could be deemed more intelligent than another (keeping in mind the previous paragraph).
However, I have plenty of friends who come from disadvantaged situations such as having parents who are illiterate and couldn't care less about an education, but they have performed well in spite of that disadvantage. So, in this case, neither nature (race) nor nurture (environment) played a part in their education.
Go figure . . . then go to the library, quickly! ;)

On average, East Asians have a higher IQ. If you're from the UK, GCSE and A-level statistical results are separated according to race ... East Asians are consistently performing the best. One important point, however, is to realise is it the race or the values they inherit?
Alot of people are talking about the spectrum of intelligence in every race. Yes, that is true, but that's not what averages are about.

Not to be racist, but at the moment, some races do seem smarter than other races. However, I believe that all races have the potential to be just as smart as the rest of em.
As you said, certain races are considered to be smart because they value education. They push their children to do good in school, to get a good job, and make a good living. If they have a good salary, they usually live in (at least some what) affluent parts of town. The school system there is better than the poorer parts. Often, these kids take after their parents and their surroundings, and they absorb what they learn in school, and they become, overall, "smarter." They in turn push their children to do well in school.
I believe it's all a big cycle, not based on race, but whether or not someone really cares.

Many studies have been done on this subject and the outstanding answer is yes some races tend to be more intelligent than others. Races from cooler climates tend to be smarter than races from warm climates. It is not racists towards any race to know the facts and truths. Even if your race happens to be one that has an average low IQ, doesn't mean you nor your family do, and vise versa. It just so happens this chart gives average IQ per race.
Race Winter Temp Wurm Temp Brain Size IQ
Arctic Peoples -15 -20 1,443 91
East Asians -7 -12 1,416 105
Europeans 0 -5 1,369 99
Native Americans 7 5 1,366 86
S. Asian & N. Africans 12 7 1,293 84
Bushmen 15 15 1,270 54
Africans 17 17 1,280 67
Australians 17 17 1,225 62
Southeast Asians 24 24 1,332 87
Pacific Islanders 24 24 1,317 85
As you can see East Asians followed by people of european decent tend to be smarter on average while people of the african and australian decent tend to have the lowest IQ. This does not mean that just because you are asian or white you will always be smarter than other races, it just means your people on average are smarter than the other races, and the goes for african and australians, just because your race happens to have low IQ's on average doesn't mean you aren't intelligent yourself. I hope this answers your question, and I hope people don't take this as being racist, because I am only meaning to answer the mans question. Good day.
By the way thank you vincent, obviously an intelligent person. Ofcourse I knew some body would be ignorant and give me a thumbs down for giving facts. It's only the ignorant who can't accept facts, yet they tend to be the ones who speak all sorts of religious and cultural dogma.

Every race has people who range from the very intelligent to the very stupid, plus academic achievement is not a guarantee of ability - a university professor might be unable to put up a shelf, whereas a skilled artist or craftsman could be illiterate.

I don't think so. There was that whole racial darwinism argument back in the day, however, I've seen people of all races excel and fail in academics. To be honest, there is no concrete scientific evidence of any race being superior so responses saying otherwise are mainly based on bias.

It has nothing to do with race. There are those that
are taught to value education above all else.
Of course those who apply themselves and sacrifice
usually end up being more intelligent than those who
go through life as if it were a game.

According to recent statistics South Korea and Finland are No. 1 in education, and Japan is No. 2. United States and Germany are near the bottom of the list worldwide. Even the "best" American students perform poorly compared to Asian and European students.

Extreme261 is speaking common sense. But will no doubt be shouted down.
In the present Political Climate facts count for nothing.
Anything that doesn't fit in with the crazed theories of the PC Brigade is dismissed or "Howled down".
Was it Murray Searle who produced a book on this? It was just dismissed by people who'd never even seen the book. Let alone READ IT!
BTW when you talk about "Good Ol' Yankee Know-How" you mean "Anglo-Saxon and Jewish" Know-How.
