Core 2 Duos are the fastest for laptops at the moment. They are faster than higher Ghz single cores, there is more to processor speed than Ghz, architectural design of the processor is also an aspect. There are currently no quad cores designed for laptops yet, but you can get a laptop with a desktop quad core CPU installed, but this costs more and leads to poor battery life, and is really unnecessary at this time for gaming.

core 2 duos are not necessarily faster. it just has two cores on one unit, which means better multitasking. So a 1.8 ghz duo cpu is not faster than a 2 ghz non duo except that it has better multitasking. So it all depends on what you are doing.

the three.2ghz 8 center i7 Intel, yet there is likewise a constrained version AMD quad center extreme it is designed to be overclocked, some checklist it clocking close to/over 6ghz. despite if this would be a constrained version "hackers" CPU and is not any longer obtainable in a working laptop or laptop / at a keep, and demands one hell of a cooling equipment.
