Judaism today is the oldest monotheistic religion in existance. (Hinduism is the oldest religion still being practiced).
It was unique that in the city of Ur, Mesopotamia, surrounded on all sides by polytheism that Abraham would be inspired to develop a monotheistic belief system, and defend it against harsh criticism.

The Hebrews were (according to the bible) Born into a convenant with God. The Hebrew where one of the first groups of people to beleive that there was only one god. They lived in places like egypt where there were several major gods and tons of Minor Gods and Goddesses.

The Hebrews, or Jews, were the very first people to believe in one God instead of a whole bunch of gods. And the first of them to believe it was Abraham, who emigrated from Ur of the Chaldees about
The Pharaoh Akhenaten believed this too, but historically it is rather more plausible that he picked it up from visiting Jews and modified it, than that the pre-Mosaic Jews picked it up from him.

They were early believers in having only one god . Probably got the idea from Akenhaten the egyptian pharoah who abolished all gods in Egypt except for the sky god Aten. Moses brought the idea with him when he led the jews out of Egypt
