I never got a check, just a letter saying that my check is being forwarded to Halliburton.

Well first off, the surplus was based on assumptions of economic growth that didn't occur.
Second, cutting taxes definitely caused a larger short-term deficit.
Finally, the Republicans (and especially Bush) forgot we elected them to cut the budget and decided to act like Democrats.
And as final proof, notice that the Democratic budget will exceed the President's request on every single bill by billions of dollars. (So even though Republicans have been spending and tax cutting, the other choice is spending MORE and tax raising).

There never was a budget surplus in 2002. In fact the Clinton administration put out false numbers. Those false numbers led to a false projection of a surplus.

The surplus of 2002 was not real since it did not include social security, medicare, the federal pension system and quite a few large debts. but do not think this was just a democratic fraud the Republicans are just as bad they are fast becoming the spend and spend party(the war is projected to cost by the end more than a trillion dollars).that's right we could have used the money to send every child in America to collage(tuition and board),cover all non insured with and atnea policy and fix our roads and bridges.Al least Clinton only lied about sex and not important things like Bush

That is not all that we lost. How about "trust" and "respect" from other countries. How about owing our soul to China now? Also, lots of that "budget surplus" probably ended up in Cheney's off-shore account, by way of Halliburton. Sick!

Georgie spent it on the war in Iraq, and then when he ran out of money, he sold our country to China. Cool, huh? Now China holds most of our debt AND they're sending us poisoned pet food and toothpaste and who knows what else. Oh, and let's not forget that China is a communist country, so it's kind of hard to see how the far right would approve of Georgie's actions.

I probably bought something with it. More importantly I have bought needed items with all the nice money I get back every year at tax time thanks to earned income and child tax credits and the tax cut I actually get OTHER PEOPLES MONEY back- sweet. Oh crap I sound like a liberal but it is still nice of those rich folks to pay extra taxes so people like me can have a little extra to pay some bills. THANKS

Bush gave it to his rich cronies.
I spent mine on three tank fill ups in my pick up.
