"CHICAGO - The AFL-CIO, the nation's largest federation of labor unions, has postponed making an unanimous endorsement in the Democratic presidential primary, freeing its 55 unions to choose for themselves from the eight contenders.

"There is not a consensus candidate," Karen Ackerman, political director of the AFL-CIO, said Wednesday, one day after the candidates tried to impress union leaders at a presidential forum."

Haha it means we have a bunch of great candidates and they can't decide who should be the candidate yet.

What does it mean when the Republicans primary choice for president is "none of the above?"

It kinda makes it more confusing, because I was hoping for one major labor endorsement so I can see which candidate is really leaning towards workers rights. But now that they're not, I'm going to have to watch more individual endorsements from unions, and see how they add it.

I think that damages the 1st tier candidates, because a win for them could have really just knocked the 2nd tier out of the race right then.

Apparently there is no one candidate they are all ready to support. Unions used to have alot of clout and the Dem wh o got their endorsement was at a great advantage.-not so anymore.

It means they can't agree. Democratic groups have trouble reaching a consensus sometimes. And in this case, there are too many good candidates to choose from.

They will throw millions of dollars into someone's campaign and they know it. Dems like unions bc they have the same belief that people can't take care of themselves and can't be trusted to do so. They will endorse someone soon.

I always wondered how the 'law and order' Repubs felt when the police all over the country supported Clinton AND Gore AND Kerry.
