Uh, cat pee is almost impossible to get rid of. Talk to your guests about relocating their pets during their stay. You want to be nice and give them a place to stay, but having their pets ruin your house is out of the question!! Can their pets stay somewhere else, or can they get rid of them?? Either the cats go, or they do!!
Also, leave the window open to help clear the air. Eventually you'll have to replace what the cats ruined to get rid of the smell permanently. So sorry.

Pour straight baking soda onto the pet stained areas and vacuum it up. Clean the spot with vinegar too. I know dogs won't go near it again: they hate the smell of vinegar, it might work for cats too.
If you have a time slot where they won't be home, go down there and santise anything you can get your hands on. Try and locate the urine stench at least. If you can't get down there alone, suggest they help you get rid of the smells (since they're not denying it's there) and have a day of cleaning. Tell them it's you're once a year deep cleaning or something.
They need to remember they are there out of the kindness of your heart and stop taking it for granted.

Wow ! You must be very, very patient I would've kicked them out months ago... As for the mattresses... Take them outside on a nice hot/sunny day and spritz them with some 50/50 bleach water on both sides and let them dry in the sun.. Go to the store and purchase plastic/rubber full mattress covers and zip the entire mattress inside them when it dries.. .Also get a waterproof mattress pad.. This will help eliminate the problem... Wash all bedding in hot water with detergent and about 1/3-1/2 cup of baking soda this will take care of the smelly linens w/o ruining them... While you have the room clear of bed(s) and mattresses/pets etc.. Give the room a good wipe down with some bleach water about 1 C. per gallon of water and give it a good rinse.. I would assign this chore to one of the ungrateful roommates.... Have someone mop with bleach water and another rinse with clean hot water and dump the "clean" bucket often... If you can get some ODORBAN/ZORBEX and spray any unwashable surface as best you can... If you have any box fans to circulate the air that would be helpful as well... Also, get rid of the cats and save all your receipts from your purchases.. Good luck

i be conscious of you have used amonia to bathe the partitions and each little thing, yet i might recommend which you communicate approximately doing it back with Murphys Oil cleansing soap or a mushy detergent, and rinse nicely, make beneficial that the dehumidifier continues to be persevering with to run. Then sprinkle baking soda on the carpets and allow to take a seat down for 30 minutes. The baking soda absorbs odors. i might say that the basement partitions and floor are protecting water, if there is besides you may open domicile windows and doorways to the basement i might and allow the air to bypass with the aid of as much as attainable. you're able to might desire to get a 2d dehumidifier to run. As on your issues smelling you need to purchase small buckets that take water out of the air, you may many times locate that at Wal-mart i've got considered them interior the laundry detergent aisle and additionally the place the ironing boards and irons and that style of element are stored. i might place one on your closet and which will help, additionally placed some dryer sheets interior the wallet of a few of your clothing which will help with the odors. i think of in case you will get the basement to dry out a sprint which would be your terrific wager, in case you're additionally worried approximately odors attempt reducing up some oranges and putting in bowls and placed them around interior the basement, oranges help with absorbing odors yet in addition bypass away an incredible orangy scent.

Sam's Club sells a product called OdoBan (available elsewhere I'm sure). It is a concentrate but available elsewhere ready to use in a spray bottle.
Here is a link to the OdoBan website:

Another tip: Recently I stayed in a hotel with mildewed carpet from water damage and they had tried to mask the odor with Pine Sol. It was so strong, it made the room unbearable. Perhaps this is a solution for you. Clean and deodorize your basement to the extent that it becomes unpleasant and shortens their stay. In my experience, there is nothing like free storage and lodging to create a long-term situation. I think Pine Sol comes in a 5 gallon bucket. Fight Back!
Good Luck!

Have the health dept. come by and talk to them. Then kick them out. In the meantime throw down the newspapers! They are supposed to remove odor.
Suggest better kitty litter, the clumping kind that can be flushed. Give them your Sundays papers coupons.
