Almost all dictators worked to disarm the people even before they were offically in power. Guns make a polite government.

People may not know this but we were given the right to keep an bear arms to not only protect ourselves from each other but to protect ourselves from our own Government. Taking away the people's right to defend themselves only leads to tyranny. Oh well you can't convince the confused they already know all the answers.

I did my term paper on gun control when I was in high school. You are right-all dictators first step was to disarm the people. There have been wars fought with stones so are we going to take away rocks too? Gun control is an issue that is very touchy here in the midwest so no one is going to tell us that it's for our own good. Most of us probably have 3-4 in our households so they'd have a good time trying to take them away from us.

For those who want to make an all out attack on the 2nd admendment I like to have them consider how they feel if someone made the attack on "Free Speech" or abortion both causes they consider very dear to their heart.

Gun laws don't stop crime. Consider Columbine how many laws did those two break on the shooting rampage?

How would a couple more stop them.

The shooting in W VA was in a "Gun Free Zone" that didn't work.

People who say we need to remove guns should read "More guns less crime".

Than again that will never make their reading list.

So I say lets have the governmet control guns how ever they want and to make the playing field level that goes for Free Speech and abortion.

They have no dictators and they have no guns in England and Canada. Dictators exist in places where civil society is non-existent. That is not the case in the US. Are people in the US so far behind that only gun possession makes them behave? Is the US Government, the leader of the Free world, so backward and undemocratic that all they are waiting for is for people to get rid of guns to create a totalitarian regime here?

True. They also abolished 4th Amendment type rights as well. Sort of like what just happened a few days ago here in the US. I guess illegal search and seizure is no big deal as long as you can go to the range and squeeze off a few... (how noble)
