Why don't you just let the grandparents choose what they want to be called. If he doesn't like "grandpa," then he can think of something else he'll like.

Growing up, I called my fathers father Grandfather and my mothers father Poppy. Personally, I think Grandfather sounds a little stuffy, to say the least, but remarkably, my father informed me when I found out I was pregnant that he wishes to be called Grandfather as well.
I know my mom called her grandpa Daddo. Thats different. My cousins babies call their grandpa Papa. I had a friend that called her grandpa Pappy.
Hope these ideas get the ball rolling.
Good luck and congrats!

Are you in the south. We have a great southern tradition. Every grandmother is Maw-maw and every grandfather is Pa-paw. Except my mother's dad. He didn't like those and trained us the call him Grandpa because we tried to call him papa lol.

However, my parents have requested to be called Nana and Gramps.

My husband's parents have requested to be called Coco and Abuelito.

We'll see how that actually goes lol

My girls call my step dad- papa, my real father grandpa and my other dad (my ex step dad) Grandpa Rick.

I have found that even if you come up with a name, the kids tend to change it to want is easier for them to say.

My children call their grandfathers Papa

A great way I've seen is to use the terms from the "old country." In most cases this allows each set of grandparents to have their own terminology. They also have slang or shorter terms like opa and oma. Go ethinc.

In Europe sometimes grandma and grandpa are Oma (grandma) and Opa (grandpa).

My daughter calls my dad pappa and her other grandpa is poppy.

Ompa (dutch for grandpa)
Abuelo / Abuelito (spanish for Grandpa)
Pop Pop
Pops
Papa (I called my Grandfather "Papa Smurf" for a few years)
Daddy _____ (Daddy Mike, Daddy Bill)

You never know, though. Your baby may choose her own name for him. We have "Yinnie" for Lynn, "MmmMmm" for Mary (which I think it pretty cute), "Lunny" for Larry, etc. Some of them stuck, some didn't. It's fun, though. Me? I am forever known to anyone under six as "Tawn-T" instead of Tonya.
