35 HR's instead of 8 per season?

If you take steroids you will definitely not going to be hitting any home runs at home. Steroids will shrink your testicles and give you troubles getting "it up".

think of it like this...

lets say taking steroids increases your power by 5 to 10%...now every home run you hit barely clears the fence or only goes about 10 feet into the stands...if you were to remove the steroids from the equation then those home runs would turn into long fly-balls and therefore most likely outs (which would bring down both your HR total and your batting average)...

although this is a little off topic...

i can't stand when people say that even if Bond's did steroids it doesn't change the fact that you still gotta put the bat to the ball...now this is true but who are we kidding, Bond's is not a great hitter (a great power-hitter yes, but all around hitter no)...he has i think only 1 batting title (and thats mostly because he got walked so much) and his career batting average is right around .300...

if you want great "hitters" and not just "sluggers" then look at guys like Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, and Ted Williams or the greatest hitter of all time: Tyrus Raymond Cobb.

Ty Cobb hit .400 THREE (3) TIMES!
hit over .300 in 24 consecutive seasons
won 12 batting titles (still the record)
and had a career batting average of .362 (still the record)

They help with both strength and increasing bat speed, so yes, they definitely help with power. Of course, the amount of power and effectiveness will vary from player to player. You also need to have existing skills - I could take steroids my whole life and I'd still never hit a 95-mph fastball.

I don't think anyone would argue that Bonds didn't have power before his alleged steroid use. I think the way they've benefited him is to increase his strength, allow him a faster recovery from nagging injuries, and maintaining his abilities at a time of his career when you'd expect them to decrease.

Did he use them? I don't know, but the benefits of steroids for any player should be obvious.

No steroids do not help your hand-eye coordination so they do not help anyone hit HRs.

Vizquel is good enough as is. Best defensive shortstop to ever play the game.
