Now steroids do not improve hand/eye but it did increase his bat speed and strength....He still would have probably been close maybe in 2008/2009 seasons but not now. But there will always be a * by his name in the record books.
* (denotes steroid use) .. Sports writers and coachs poll it at he should be around the 650 mark right now if he was to keep on the same pace before the steroid explosion. He beat Maris record by 19.7% increase of homeruns, that means would anybody be suspicous about a runner running 1mile in 2:59 you bet they would that is a the same above the record performance Bonds did or someone running the 100m in 7.5s instead of the record 9.6s that would raise some eyebrows....THanks

Reputable accounts say he started using steroids in 1999; as of 1998 he had 411 career home runs, an average of 31 per year. I'll assume that he'd have kept at that rate and that, without the 'roids to strengthen him and extend his career, he would have retired at the age of 40. He would have ended with 620 HR, or 136 fewer than he currently has.

Aren't the Barry haters going to riot or commit suicide? I'd love to see it happen and all of them get life threatening injuries. Face it, they are all cowards, talk a big game but can't back their words up..... The new record is set and the haters can't do anything about it!

all from the season before he hit 73 ONWARDS....

his stats were dropping off slowly, steadily until that 2000 season...

then,to paraphrase emeril... BAM!!

he jumps up from 30-something HRs the previous year to 49....

then from 49 to 73

oh yeah, he turned into the hulk and his head got so big it had its own gravitational field.... how do you think all those balls started landing in his strikezone so regularly?

GRAVITY...

from his head...
