Never heard of: ABC, Berlin, Missing Persons, Bow Wow Wow, Romeo Void, The Human League, Adam & the Ants, Prince 7 The Revolution or Dexy's Midnight Runners. I might know their songs if I heard them though. (im thinking one hit wonders)
I think Styx wins followed by Devo, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Foreigner, Bananarama, The Cure, The Smiths, Men at Work The Clash Wham Culture Club and the rest not in any particular order.

I like a lot of those bands!!! Let's see.....Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Missing Persons, Wham!, Bow Wow Wow, Romeo Void, The Clash, The Human League, PRINCE!!!!!!!!, Culture Club, Bananarama, The Cure.......Ah, that brings me way back to tthe good times!!!!

The Clash was definitely the best and most influential...but not the most popular. The B-52s would be my choice. Of course you left off U2, The police and REM. The cure was very good during the 80's but didn't really hit it big until the end of the decade.

I love Def Leppard.
Culture Club held their own, with Boy George and the controversy. Men at Work was cool. Foreigner was to die for. Prince had great energy. My favorite back then was Ozzy.
