Hey there .. I am sorry you're having issues with depression - I know how tough that can be. Unfortunately, the meds don't kick in immediately. It takes about 30 days for them to be in full effect. But you will begin to feel a little better each day until then (as long as you have the right medication for you). If you don't or seem to have any weird symptoms tell your doctor right away and they can try different meds until they find the one for you.
Sounds like you are also having anxiety attacks ... this can be brought on or made worse by depression. Let your doctor know about this as well because the medication is so good nowadays that you can find one that is a combo to help with both depression and anxiety. You may find, however, that once the medicine you're already taking kicks in ... your breathing difficulties will go away. Regardless ... tell your doctor about this when you go back to see him/her.
Whatever you do ... remember to NEVER just stop taking these pills. You must gradually stop taking them. Your dr. should explain that to you. It is very dangerous to just stop because these meds alter the hormones in your brain. Don't let that worry you ... if you are severely depressed they can be a LIFESAVER. I've seen people who were so depressed they couldn't get out of bed ... start taking an anti-depressant and their whole lives changed and they began to be happy for the first time in years.
Hang in there ... and remember that a healthy diet and exercise (ESPECIALLY exercise) are both proven to help greatly with depression. Get out and go for a walk every day ... it will help tremendously. I wish you luck ... you'll be feeling better in no time! =)

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.
Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

While you may feel some side effects to taking those types of meds for the first time, they do not hit you all at once. For the desired effects it takes a few weeks or so before you suddenly realize that you have been starting to feel in a better mood. It won't be obvious at first. So..relax, give it some time. If the pills make you feel worse at ANY time..go back to your Doctor and tell her or him immediately. Not everyone can take any med, it is a trial and error process sometimes. Don't be discouraged and just let the meds work.

Sure, teenagers (a while thirteen to 17) can have Borderline personality sickness. For confirmation, see Blaise Aguirre's guide 'Borderline personality disease in adolescents' - also see videos from Adolescent BPD conferences on the NEA-BPD (country wide schooling Alliance for Borderline character sickness) website. There may be, unluckily, a lot of confusion: each DSM-IV and DSM-5 allow for the prognosis of BPD in kids.Clinicians who make the diagnosis make sure the criteria have existed for greater than a year (the DSM lists 9 criteria for BPD, when you've got 5 or extra you will be diagnosed with BPD). Happily, there is hope: there are just right effective, evidence-centered treatments for adolescent BPD, specially Dialectical habits healing (DBT) and Mentalization-situated remedy (MBT). If you're a loved ones member or friend, the exceptional recommendation is to get schooling and help (NEA-BPD has a 12-week course for loved ones contributors & acquaintances referred to as household Connections to coach and teach abilities derived from Dialectical conduct treatment).

Sorry to say, it doesn't work right away, been there. I wish I knew exactly what has caused you to be depress so that I can see if what I went through as far as my experience on what you need to do while you are taking the medication. Cause medication only won't cure your depression, it just calms your nerves down and relaxes your body so you don't get anxiety attacks and shortness of breath. If you like to know more about my bad experiences which caused my depression , you are welcome to email me, I don't mind talking about. Take care, and I wish you well.

You will see some slight changes in the first few days, but it really takes a few weeks for the medication to be a constant in your bloodstream.
As far as you feeling anxious and having a hard time breathing. I know it is easier said than done, but take a few deep breaths and breath deep. Don't start taking quick breaths, becasue you will hyperventilate.

Mine took about 2-3 weeks to take full effect.
What are you taking and what miligram? I started on Zoloft, then switched to Lexapro and Wellbrutin. I just got off Lexapro about 5 months ago, and I still feel fine.
Good luck... and make sure you look up info on the pills online... some make you gain weight and some make you lose it, so you should watch out for both of those effects.

I am on anti depressents also, You will start feeling a difference in about 2 weeks, but it could take up to 6 weeks. Along with the meds make sure you try to find the root of what is causing your anxiety and deppression.

Most pills take about three days before you can actually feel the effect they have on your moods. Some take longer and some don't. It also depends on your body. How long it takes for your body to absorb the medicine. If you don't start feeling different within a week I'd go talk to your dr. Might need to change the dosage.

It depends on the medication, but most of the time the doctor will tell you to give them about 2 months before you try another type of antidepressant, because it could take that long to feel any benefits from them.
It took me about a month before my Zoloft started helping.
