When I turn on the hot tap of the bath mixer tap it runs initially (weak) for a few seconds then as soon as the water comes through hot, it stops coming through altogether. The cold tap of the mixer is fine as is the sink mixer in the same bathroom. I have already tested for an air block and this doesnt seem the case. Does anyone have any solutions as to what could be the problem?
Thanks

Modern taps BS 5412 have a tendency to suddenly stop working or at least run slowly. The spindle has gone beyond its travel and is not returning, therby leaving the washer in a closed state. REMEDY Turn off the tap controlling the flow of water to the copper cylinder.Remove the top of the tap and ease the "O" ring back into the sleeve using a little vaseline, In future explain to the clan not to overturn off the hot tap.

Most likely a broken pipe if all the other taps are working on the hot side. The broken pipe would be the one in between the water heater and the tub. If the mixer has ceramic parts that could also be a problem if it is cracked or broken inside.

Is the the only hot water tap in the house that does this? If other do it, I would suspect that your hot water heater's tank is empty (you'll need to turn it off (immediately so it doesn't burn out) and refill it)

If it is the only one to do this, you might have a bad section of pipe behind the walls.

Check and see if the shut off valve (found under the sink) is closed, turn it clockwise and that will open the valve to let the cold water in. Your main water supply shut off valve (usually in the basement) is obviously fine because your other sinks are working fine,so leave that one alone. It could also be a faucet malfunction. Phone the hardware store and ask for the plumbing dept. and tell them whats happening and they may suggest something for you if its your faucet. Good luck
