The commonest reason is general excoriation in a warm, moist area, never free of bacteria and sometimes prone to fungal infection. Haemorrhoids can sometimes be very itchy and thread-worms can also produce peri-anal itch. To get a diagnosis you are going to have to put aside your embarrassment and let your doctor have a look and possibly take swabs. He has probably seen more bottoms than you have had hot dinners!

it could be worms or piles, if just itching without any other problems then probably the first. u can buy a tablet at the chemist most popular one is Ovex just one tablet should clear the problem. usually with worms the itching is worst at night. make sure u wash yr hands thoroughly this should clear it up without having to visit doctor. follow the instructions on the box. if this doesnt work then u will have to see doctor im afraid as thats the only way of correctly diagnosing the problem, dont worry the doctor will be used to dealing with all sorts of problems and this will be nothing to them so dont be embarrassed.

Getting it checked will always be better. If you can get Mebendazole (for intestinal worms) over the counter, take 1 tablet twice a day for 3 days. It should cure the problem if caused by worms. Don't take it or any medicines without doc's advice if you are PREGNANT!
Good luck!

You might be washing too often and drying out the skin. You should really only use water down there once a day in the shower. Try putting a little lotion or vaseline on it and don't put water down there for a couple of days, just wipe well with dry tissue.

I have to agree with everyone else on this. You really need to go see a doc.
Doctors went into medicine to help people (well okay most of them and if you don't feel yours did find another!) and they want to be there to help you with what ever you've got going on. They will not laugh or run home and tell their spouse or whatever and they can put your fears aside and help you fix what is going on.
Best of luck and trust your doc!

Well, I actually have the same thing. I went to the Drz, (Yeah, it was hard, but i did it!) and she said that i had exema down there. she gave me some Hydrocortazone cream to put on it and now its better.
Yours could be Pin Worms also. I would go to the Dr, even though it is going to be hard, and see what they say. Hope this helps!
