Good point. although the reason I don't like to wear tank tops is more because of my flabby arms (plus I have a farmer's tan). it just boils down to preference.
I agree with "nutsfornouveau", the same should go for guys. especially about showing the armpits...yuck!

It's not the clothing that is immodest. It's the manner in which it is worn, ok?
You're obsessing about women's clothing again, Sandy. Just like the question about dresses and Kindergarten thru HS girls.
Can you give us a clue where this is coming from?
Do you not like Baseball or Football or Politics?
Everything you ask is either demeaning or maniplative, and to the point of obsession. Toward anyone female, from age 5 on up.
You single out an entire half of the world population.
I mean, I do see a pattern.
You need to be aware of it.

I prefer shirts with 3/4 sleeves. Not too long, not too short.

Let me tell you something. It is 98 degrees with a real feel factor of 103. Don't tell me what is reasonable and what isn't. If I go out in public, I dress decently, but I can walk around my house naked if i want to.

No, it is not immodest here in the states.
How on earth do you function? All this stuff floating in your head. Don't you ever get tired of all the voices?

I wear what ever i want, singlet tops, strapless tops, dresses with spaghetti straps, short skirts. I don't think anything that I wear is unacceptable. It's all neat and clean.

No, that is NOT being reasonable (i.m.o.)... because if you have a tank top on to keep cool... you don't want another top on under it... that just makes it worse!!
Speaking of, I am sitting here with a tank top on, but it does not show off my chest, stomach or back... (I'm not one who likes to do that.)... but my shoulders & underarms are not covered... that's the whole purpose of a tank top!!
But hey, I'm in USA & I have the right to wear whatever I want! :) Which I am SO grateful for!!!

I think I'll join the nudist colony, thanks...
Seriously, though. What is modesty/immodesty but shame about our bodies. What is really shameful about them? I'm a woman. I have breasts. There's no denying that. Why should I hide them? My body is exactly how God designed it. Should God feel ashamed that he made me what I am? My body is my gift and I feel no shame. So again, why should I hide?
