When they are taken back to their own country, they get released, and end up back in the US through our porous borders.

US Prisons have illegal immigrants from just about every country in the world and that's because we don't have proper records and really don't know who is who or from where. It's always been that way ya know....ask somebody in a casino or reservation. Meanwhile, Url "Timeline" Nafta. 1979~ yah, I know...Another great Republican Idea...and not all of the "Mexicans" you see are illegal, most of them are fifth and sixth generation. Longer than my family for sure...and we have II's in jail for the same reason we have kids and mentally ill. We have turned to savagery. We turn our backs on 18 year old from foster system to jail, Mentally ill from diagnoses to jail. Except Texas, they kill em there....and we wonder why Georgy Boy doesn't know how to behave.
I expect that someday the clouds will part and we will find out "We" are not alone. Bet color and borders won't be so important then. Maybe they will be compassionate enough to take care of our needy and "don't belong heres" kindly while we are ignoring them all and killing another Country. Ps. Consider, Third term, second civil war...lots o folks goin' to jail...or One and minions....think Mexico will take em?

Often, yes. In California some state reps (really pro-illegal immigration types as well) asked Germany and Mexico and some other countries with significant elements of their citizenry in our jails to take those incarcerated people into their own jails. Germany and the other countries all came and cooperated. Mexico sent a note to the meeting that as a poor country, Mexico couldn't afford a ticket to send their representative to the meeting.
Nevermind that Mexico has 47 consulates in the US (as compared to 1 for the UK, which is actually in the Mexican consulate in London.)

It's quite simple really. If you are an illegal immigrant and get caught you are exported the first time you are caught. The second time, You are considered an habitual illegal and serve time in state prison for a year. If you are a drug runner, it's even longer.

Immigrants are legal if they succeed but become illegal when failed.
The early immigrants are the worst enemy of the new immigrants. this is the real problem and Mexico is rightly refusing to take them back.

The illegal population in prisons are servbing sentences for their illegal acts. When their sentence is served, they will be deported. There is no sign of refusal out there.

No. They did a crime here, they do the time here. It's that simple. After their sentence is served, they get deported (or should).

The US government requires them to pay their debt to society here, when they are done serving their time they are deported.
I know, it is a ridiculous waste of taxpayer money.
