Only two reasons for the unit to spit water into the house. 1) Drain hole/hose is plugged. 2) The unit is tilted towards the inside of the house instead of towards the outside.

I just installed a new GE 12000BTU AC and yes, mine spits water too. I have noticed that there actually is a recess in the bottom so the fan splashes the clean, distilled, condensed water all around and then blows it through the coil. As a retired process engineer, this seems to be simple, unique method to improve cooling. There is an overflow that would cause excess water to drain as the unit is tilted out. I have decided not to drill an extra hole but let this design prove itself. It however is a bit noisier as I can hear it outside.

Besides tilting the unit as has been suggested, you may have to "re-clean" the inside.
You have to take the cover off the unit [unplug first].
You'll probably discover that rust flakes or dirt have caused the problem and have plugged the drain again.
It's a good idea to flush the drain and/drain pan [bottom of case] once or twice a year with some bleach and water because mold/mildew often forms inside.
Think how good the cold air will feel when your finished.
Good Luck

Many whole-house air conditioners are mounted in the attic. The water that's condensed from the air in the house is led outside. Often the pipe or tube gets plugged up with slime causing water to overflow the mechanism up in the attic. If the water is coming down under where the mechanism is mounted, the above is your answer.
I can tell you how to prevent slime build-up, but if that's your problem, complete blockage means prevention is too late.

If the drain hole is clear, then the AC unit needs to be adjusted so that it slopes away from the house. That way the water will go away from the window and wall. Just like the chief said. good luck.
