Ask the sender to re-send. The delete works like windows delete, ie the messages stay there until the space is re-used, so a different phone might find them, it probably won't.

I recently put my sim into an old Sony Ericsson phone and some text messages that i had deleted were showing up on the SE. A few of the were recieved in 2002 (:
So maybe borrow someones old SE phone
