sounds like a possible bacterial infection, especially if he is uncircumcised. he needs to visit his doctor asap, so he doesn't spread it to you. Good luck

It could smell for several reasons.
If he's uncircumcised, he should pull back his foreskin and wash the area underneath it with water and a mild soap every time he takes a shower/bath. It's really not difficult or a hassle, so if he doesn't then he's really lazy. Even if he's circumcised, he should probably use soap. Sometimes strong or scented soaps can irritate the area, and cause redness and even a smell; but a mild and scentless soap should solve the problem.
If the above doesn't seem to be the issue, it could be a minor yeast infection. Antifungal creams will clear that right up, and eating yogurt will further help treat and prevent yeast infections (for both of you).

The ignorance and prejudice in most of the answers so far is appalling!
Firstly if he has a foreskin he is probably doing the right thing NOT using soap. Some intact guys can use it but in many it affects the natural balance and CAUSES thrush (yeast) infections. Washing thoroughly with plain water keeps most foreskins clean and fresh.
Secondly there is no reason to think he is cheating on you but he has almost certainly developed a thrush infection. He could have developed this on his own or he could have caught this from you.
You both need to be treated with an over-the-counter thrush/fungal treatment from a pharmacy and use condoms until all symptoms are clear and the recommended treatment time is up. An oral pill may be worth taking in conjunction with a cream. The pharmacist can advise you.
Good luck and ignore most of the crappy advice above.

It's an infection that will not go away by itself. He needs to see a doctor and get antibiotics. And he must take them all, even though the smell will go away quickly. If he doesn't take them all, it'll come right back. Good luck to both of you,. Make that appt. today, and don't listen to any cranberry c-r-a-p, Cranberry juice IS healthy for everyone to drink, but it will not kill an infection. :) Btw, have him try some anti-bacterial soap first. Why doesn't he use soap? This question is becoming more interesting. This one gets a star. Good luck. A doctor can figure this out for sure.

Well, soap makes a big difference, plain water doesn't do a lot for cleaning, especially areas like the penis where body oils may be produced.

Definantly use soap... I think a person's diet can affect the way thier skin smells as well. and if he shaves, then it will get even more sweaty durring the day, and there's nothing to absorb it, so it goes back into the skin... If they arn't using soap, then they arn't doing any good really by showering.

he may not be cheating on you it could be something to do with what he's eating just as i've heard some women get an odour after eating fish i don't see why men can't also. suggest to him he sees a doctor just to rule anything else out if he's got nithing to feel guilty about he will. but he also needs to use soap everywhere or he'll smell worse than just fish

most men have a fish smell if they are having sex
so if it hasnt been with you , you better do some investigating because there shouldnt be any reason for a man to smell that way. as they dont have a discharge like women . because with some discharges women can also have this smell. and if he has been cheating and refuses to use soap maybe he likes the smell. and it is like a bragging thing. if men can smell it on him he can be like yea i had sex. so investigate dear. and in the mean time tell him you cant be with him until he is clean. and if you arent sleeping with him and he still smells like that from time to time, i bet cheating is the answer.

The body has bacteria constantly (which makes it smell) and in order to get rid of it, you use soap. Showering is not enough.

He needs to ensure its washed properly with his shower gel or soap- and he needs to ensure he pulls the foreskin back and washes thoroughly daily around the part that gets hidden under the foreskin as this sweats and collects bacteria.

Sounds like an infection, he need to see a doctor. It could also be that you have a touch of thrush and have given it to him, men rarely get the same symptoms as women, i.e., itchiness etc, but they do get a smelly discharge sometimes.
