Hello, first of all thankx for your help,,were going to do as you sugggested and change out that ignition switch,,,,,But,,do you mean the switch it self...10 pin or 14 pin or just the part that you stick the key into....I forgot to ask and wanted to ask.....thank you very much for ALL your help.....03 GMC SIERRA....remember???

This truck doesnt have a key with a chip in it...just regular keys.....

you may have not gotten the key all the way to the off position when you pulled out the key this will cause this as the security system will reconise the key is gone with the accy on when you turned it off and waited 1/2 hour the security reset
and the car started get a new key code cut from the dealer this will fix it

the ignition key switch the thing you put the key into also have them code cut a new key as the only problem may just be a warn key you may want to get the key first if it wont start reset the security code by leaving the key on 12 minuets turn off 10 seconds thain restart car
