That same question was asked in the late 1920s and early 1930s when Presidents Hoover and Roosevelt tried to introduce ways to get us out of the great depression. We made it out and we did so with some more socially responsible organizations having played a part. Flat out Socialism no. It is not happening now either and no one is advocating flat out Socialism. Fear tactics were used by radicals on the right in those days as they are today.

Have you seen any General Strikes in the US lately? Or rioting and looting that isn't connected to a power outage, natural disaster or a Sports Team winning its division? I haven't

Creeping Fascism, on the other hand, is taking over America. We see it in increasing concentrations of Wealth, and media ownership. We see it daily in increasingly intrusive interference in American's lives--from morality based laws to National ID's to smoking bans.

We see it in the increase in the size and power of Government and a lessening respect for the law on the part of elected officials. We see it in the way credit reporting and mailing list companies are allowed to collect info on Americans that the law specifically forbids governments to have.

Socialism is a boogeyman. Facism is real and growing.

The Census Bureau data is quite clear, the only reason the proletariat still outnumbers the bourgeoisie is that we keep importing a million proletarians each year, legally and illegally combined.

I seem to remember a Marx statue being torn down somewhere in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

So, I doubt it... at least so long as Mrs. Clinton doesn't get electec.

No, socialism isn't taking over America. Democrats are not socialists and the Republicans who call them that are desperate, hysterical and given to over the top exaggerations so they can use their usual tactic of character assassination vs. intelligent discourse.

Yes -- because most people seem to want it.

They want the govt to regulate trade, regulate business, regulate
social programs -- and that regulation is socialism.

Why do I say they want it? Because they keep re-electing the same politicians who keep doing the same things.
