A lot of people will say some really nasty things about the candidates. I, as a Republican, have little to say about Hillary. John McCain does nothing for me and realistically he is a dead candidate. All I can say is pay attention to what they are saying then try to research what they have done. Just about everyone running is a career politician (some longer than others) and has a record. Pay attention to what others point out about a candidates record. NOT just what the candidate says. Ignore the name calling. Realize there will be a lot of mud slinging and spinning. Take your time. You must also decide your party affiliation. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independent. You have until Feb or later before the Primaries begin. Good luck.

After years of disappointment over the Bush Administration we need a change... I'm behind Ron 100%
His positions, his integrity.. the fact that he doesn't make faulty promises and actually has the track record to prove it. I believe in lower taxes for the middle class and poor, I believe the war should end and our troops should be safe at home, I believe America needs to revaluate its foreign policy and navigate with other countries instead of fighting useless wars where so many have died, and nothing has been resolved, I believe everyone is entitled to their privacy and basic civil rights... I believe America should be a democracy where we are not lied to and used by politicians that have their own agenda.. These are the reasons why I believe in Ron Paul
I am IMPRESSED... Republican or Democrat, I have almost never seen a candidate who is so honest and relativistic in his/her thinking, and who doesn't try to please the public but says the things exactly as s/he believes them. If you believe in lower taxes, are anti-war, against the patriot act, and believe in honest government who looks out for our well being not their own self interests this is the man for you!

None of the parties, major or minor, have selected their nominees for President and Vice President. When they do, forget about what they can "do for the people". That sort of mental mindset is a holdover from the days of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and an idea that the President is some sort of Federal Wizard King. When the nominees are selected, get out Article II of the U.S. Constitution and read it carefully. That's the job description for the President. Then look at what they are saying and figure out which one you think meets the requirements set down in Article II. After that, cast your ballot in the Presidential Preference Election in November of 2008, hoping that the Electoral College voting in December matches your choice.
Only one President in U.S. history carried out everything he promised in his campaign. His name was James K. Polk. He promised to do five things. He accomplished all of them. And he's lost in the dust bin of history.

Write your own name on the ballot. You have as much chance of getting elected as anyone else, because in a presidential election your vote is only you giving your consent to an electoral official to vote on your behalf and he/she doesn't have to even vote along party lines if they choose not to do so! Do you think it's fair that these select few should have so much power to choose what everyone really wants in the Oval Office?

You need to decide what is important to you.
Democrats stand for bigger government, more services, more taxes, and more equality.
The Republican party used to stand for fiscal conservativeness, but in the decade its been the party of deficit spending, wealthy taking more of the economy, and generally hatred. But theoretically Republicans have less fear of a majority religion forced on a minority, prefer flat taxation, and our more willing to force our way on other people via military might.
Generally, liberals fear goverment intrusion into our personal lives. Conservatives fear government intrusion into our business. Its unfortunate that this divide exists but it does. Decide what is important to you and listen to the candidates.

google search bi partisan reports and make your own assessment based on your beliefs. Everyone will try to play both sides of the fence to get elected so you need to make an educated guess as we all do. One pointer, don't label yourself.....dem, rep, ind, green. Be open minded.

VOTE!
Or you have no right to complain about the idiot in office.
Plan on wanting to complain
***************************
Look at the choices last time
Kerry: Loser without a clue about domestic policy... or economics...
Bush: clueless about foreign policy.
Either way... we end up with a bum in the whitehouse.
I expect the choices to be even worse in 2008.
