My daughter had a bad chest cold for sometime. I practically had to beg the doctor on numerous visits to prescribe something to her to clear her up. She finally prescribed her some really good medicine and it cleared her up in about 1 day. Other than that, I gave her baths with Vicks Vapor body wash for babies (you can get it at Wal-Mart,etc.) and used saline nose drops to clear out her nose several times a day.
Be more firm with your doctor though and let her know that this seriously concerns you. Babies can choke on their own flem sometimes.
Good luck. I hope your little manlet feels better very soon.

I would say take him back in to the dr. He may need antibiotics. 2 weeks is a long time for a baby this little - my neice has had issues like this too.
Try steaming him - take him in the bathroom with you and sit with him - don't get in the shower, but turn on the shower on HOT and sit and hold him while the room gets steamy. Keep door closed and let him breathe the steam. If you can get some natural eucalyptus oil - at a healthfood store - you can add a couple of drops to the bottom of the shower.
Vaporizers can help too, but I've found steamy bathroom to work best - my son used to have croup really bad (hospitalized) every year, twice a year and we'd do this before running him in. It will calm their breathing.
I would definitely take him to the dr or ER and have him checked out again - it shouldn't last this long in the summer if it's just a virus/cold.
Best Wishes!

If he's having problems breathing, he needs to go back to the doctor immedately! If you hear a rattle or a wheeze (kind of whistly-noise) he might have pneumonia - and you should get a second opinion from another doctor ASAP. Going to the ER when he's not in distress is pointless - you'll spend hours there and probably not get much help, since most ER doctors are not skilled in treating infants or children. (And a good many of them admit it!!)
If it's just a chest cold, which is common this year - I've seen a lot of them, all you really can do for him is to run a cool mist vaporizier in his room (warm humidifers can burn little fingers!) and let him sleep slightly elevated. If he's more comfortable sleeping in his baby seat, let him. Otherwise, put a folded towel under the head of his mattress to elevate him a little.

Try a humidifier. It should help loosen up his congestion. If you don't have one then take him into a stem bath. Run the hot water in the shower and let the bathroom get steamed up and sit in there with him. Don't go into the shower because the water will burn the baby. Also try to suction his nose out because the post nasal drip might also be causing his congestion. Keep him upright when he sleeps, like in a car seat, bouncer, or swing. This will help him breath easier.
