EUROPIAN called us Indian (tribes) .Are we still tribes.

Maybe not, but we are still a developing country. I think we are definitely making a lot of progress in restoring the old names for cities. I am sure there would be a time in future when all the states and citizens of this country would agree to restoring the true name of our country. Till that time i guess we have to live with 'India'.

I do not agree that Indian means Tribes.

The name India is derived from Indus, which is derived from the Old Persian word Hindu, from Sanskrit Sindhu, the historic local appellation for the Indus River. The ancient Greeks referred to the ancient Indians as Indoi, the people of the Indus.

It was because the foriengners did it...no body has tried to change it..
