I am newly pregnant and I am finding by 1 or 2 pm that I anm almost falling asleep at my desk at work. What are some things that I can do to "perk up" and keep up with my work - FYI - I have not told anyone at work that I am pregnant yet, so it needs to be something that is not going to make me stand out in the crowd.

That is going to be a tough one...because it is normal to get really tired when you are in your first trimester. I would say when you start getting sleepy, make an excuse to go to the bathroom. Maybe walking around will help keep you more alert. Good luck!

I can relate. I'm 7 months along right now, and for the first 4-5 months I was like a zombie, especially after lunch. I work in a cubicle sitting at my computer all day, so as a pick-me-up I would walk to the breakroom or bathroom. If that didn't work (and it usually didn't), I would take a short walk outside for some fresh air. If that would be too conspicuous, I would keep some saltines or some fruit to much on at your desk to keep you going. Oh, and definitely take a nap at lunch if at all possible. Good luck.

Had the same problem! I can't go home and take a nap and I can't go to sleep here, so I discovered 2 things. Watermelon is a great afternoon wake up snack and so are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Try eating just a half sandwich at first. If anyone ask tell them it is a new diet, LOL!! In a few months they are gonna know what kinda "diet" you are on! Congrats and good luck!!

Drink a coke. If you don't drink them very often, then it will really make a difference. Just make sure you drink an extra glass of water or two sometime that same day. Also, protein produces a certain chemical in your brain to react and keep you stimulated. Try eating a chicken sandwich or something with lots of protein. Sunflower seeds also work. Tuna, if you don't have to talk face to face with people. Hope that helps.

What i tried was eating more fruits at my desk like strawberrys and drank a lot of water that made me have to go to the restroom and give me a chance to walk around which helped wake me up a little bit.
I have to most boringest desk job (accounting) so i tended to catch myself falling alseep at my desk. Try doing neck excersizes and take a nap in your car if possible...
good luck!!

When you find out, let me know! I try to go home during lunch and take a little cat nap. That helps a lot. On the days I can't take a nap, I am exhausted! I'm 9 weeks. Congrats! :o)

For me I tried to squeeze in a 30 minute or so nap during my lunch break. That is the only thing that helped me.

good luck!

Try taking a nap during your lunch break. And make sure you eat good. Don't just eat a lot, but eat good healthy food that will give you energy. Maybe some fruit juice or a cereal bar.

I know we're supposed to watch our caffeine intake, but I find a glass of iced tea does the trick. It has less caffeine than coffee, and gives me a boost. Stay away from sugary stuff, that will make you crash later in the day.
