I'm not sure usurp is the right word. But you are right. We are all created equal. But Hilary's plan is to force equality on those who have fallen off the band wagon - if you fall above or below the equal line, then she will make sure you are carried (or dragged kicking and screaming) back to center.

Hillary does not propose to engineer society. She proposes that we save the middle class, quit rewarding the rich for simply being rich, and attend to the 45 million people in this country who can't afford health care. Making sure everyone in the richest country in the world has health care is something we should have taken care of a long time ago. She isn't delusional, she knows there will always be the rich, the middle, and the poor. Sen. Clinton, despite the whole socialism tag the Republicans think they can hang on her, is a capitalist, and very good at being one.

First, you make a statement without supporting it. Does Hillary really believe that or are you just saying it? Is that your perception of what she might ACTUALLY have said because it is what you want to hear? If she did you know we run our country based on the Constitution not the Declaration of Independence. You know about the Constitution don't you? That is the document G.W. Bush called a goddamn piece of paper and his Attorney General said was obsolete.
The passage you cite from the DoI also goes on to say that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights among them are life, liberty and the persuit of happiness. Equality in this sense is political equality. A jury of your peers consists in America of people from all walks of life because under the law we are all equal. Previously in England peers were more like nobles or property ownders and ordinary Joes had no say. I doubt they were referring to financial equality since the system is set up as it is.

You go, Ray J! Southern girl has hit the nail right on. Doc too! And yes, that is what Hitlery would propose. Our founding fathers did not imply a socialistic society. Hitlery is not a capitalist!

Socialists like Hillary think that way. Take over all the factories and communication and transportation. Give back to the people a small amount of what you took so all are equal with nothing.

Our founding fathers never envisioned Socialism as a way of life for us. Legally coercing money from one segment of society to create equality within another segment is something that I would consider to be unconstitutional. It robs us of our freedoms and the ability to make something of ourselves.
If you know that by becoming educated, working hard and making something of yourself that you'll be forced to give up a large portion of your earnings, would you even bother? That's the problem with socialism. It created a society of dependence, not independence. As a result, it takes away creativity and creates laziness.

Apparently the "pursuit of happiness" part hasn't sunk in yet.
Our founding fathers originally wrote the word "property" instead of "pursuit of happiness".
I doubt that she will ever try very hard to put herself on the same economic plane as most of the rest of us.
She is just grabbing for the poor people vote.

wow, you almost succeeded at completing your own circular argument..
she's not trying to make everyone equal... we democrats are not socialists... I might go as far as to say some of them are social capitalists.. but we promote capitalism as the main driving factor for our nation.
even if she was.. it would not be a violation of the constitution.. it says all men are created equal.. it doesn't say anything about what we do to keep them equal or not.. and since nothing is said on it.. everything is Constitutional.. no matter what stance is taken.

The Declaration of Independence outlined our cause to separate from Great Britain. You may be talking about the Constitution. Our founding fathers envisioned a much smaller central government. If you really care, vote for Ron Paul. If you want to preserve the Constitution, call for an immediate impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney.

Stop pointing out facts. Since Hillary says the government needs to step in and help people with mortgage problems, I plan on becoming financially irresponsible as soon as she gets her plan implemented. I want to be a liberal and let the government take care of me.
