Same as during the day only it's dark.

To me, it's no different than working any other shift. I work in an ER and my shifts do rotate. I don't mind nights at all. It's cooler in the summer (where I live, it's really hot in the day). I'm a nightowl anyway so it doesn't bother me at all.

When I worked on an ambulance, I worked 24 hour shifts. You won't do that in a hospital. It takes a little time to get used to it but you will. You body just has to adjust.

EMT

Just a note...the practical jokers seem to come out en masse at night so be prepared. Revenge is sweet, though (60 cc syringes make great water guns).

It depends on the hospital. If you're in a larger trauma center type hospital the night shifts tend to be a bit crazier because that's when you'll start seeing the drunks, and the fights, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, a lot more severe car accidents (poor visibility, junior drivers, drunk driving). Being that you're in the critical care unit you may not see too much of this stuff when it first arrives. Your unit will probably be quite busy, but it won't even be close to as hectic and insane as the ER.

Hope this helps.

being in the med field i can tell you that working night shift really sucks. I did it for about 6 months and it completely changes your life. If you are naturally a night person then you will easily adjusts. I have found that people who have diabetes or some particular health problem do not handle night shift very well. Its all about how you make it. good luck
Oh here is a suggestion for ya. When you sleep put black trash bags on your windows. it completely blocks out the light so you can get some sleep. also, get a small fan. it blocks out noise.

Night shift = less staff, but same acuity.

Can be very hectic at times, but you usually have more exocentric persons to work with (more fun). Your managers aren't there, and teamwork is a definent must.

Best of all, you can all go out for breakfast after work!

But you are going to be damned tired until you get used to it, and don't do swing shifts (days to nights in the same week.) They suck!

the ingredient with Robin on the gurney at a loss for words me too. As for the storylines, they're in simple terms tying nighttime Shift's into GH because of the fact nighttime Shift is over. i think of there grew to become into basically going to be one season of nighttime Shift and that they did no longer decide directly to bypass away the viewer's putting. the place's Brenda?

In the hospital, nites are only different than days because everyone except the basic staff have left to go home and sleep at nite.
Good luck.
