It's an interesting discussion.
At the moment, the steroids accusations are only accusations so the record is legitimate. Today the ball has high value, a million might be to high, but certainly several $100K.
If it comes out in the future that Barry is proved in a court of law to have done steroids is the value of the ball diminished?

Well there is an auction house in Dallas that offered a million to whoever caught it, so that's a start. They claimed that it had to be within 15 days of the home run, so therefore I would try to get a higher bid, and if I couldn't, I think I could deal with the $1,000,000

I would get whatever I could for it right now. I think the ball will only go down in value. When Bonds retires, his last home run ball will be worth more than #756. If he ends up being indited for lying to the grand jury, the value will go down. And when ARod or somebody else breaks the record, the value will go down again. Sell now while it has maximum value.

a lot of players are doing drugs... but not all of them reached like bonds... whats the issue?
seriously... bonds are just being rumored or may be not because of his popularity. sad to say... he's good enough than those guys who wants to ruin him..
so his record breaking homerun is worth the honor for him to have and worth it for the right price... not to depreciate in value, instead, increase.
keep the ball so as to increase the value of your tax. im sure

The value of the ball is basically 450 to 700K at the most. The hype was just caused by McGwire's HR ball that was bought by a rich comic book author for 3.5MM, which he got ripped off with that dumb price. He thought that McGwire's record would stand for a lifetime..... He was wrong!
Fair market value would not exceed seven figures. It's not about his past drug use or racism..... That's just how sports memorabilia prices are set.

I don't know. I'd probably start at atleast 1 mil. because McGuire's 70th that one season sold for 3.3 mil. I don't know, the ball might retain it's value because it was the ball that initially broke the record, and everyone after that is pretty much just a bonus homerun.

I would like to think that I would give it back to Barry for soem autographed items, but I have to look out for family first and put it up for auction ASAP. Remember 757 is right around the corner. After he breaks the record, does barry have to celebrate after every homerun?

The ball will not really increase in value bonds will hit more homers and then each one after that will be more becasue it is the next record. the current record ball will be worth not so much after he hits like five more homers.

To me , not worth a plug nickle. But integrity means a lot to me and I'm a real fan ,not just at the moment. For one thing I wouldn't be so stupid to pay for a ticket to watch a druggie in the first place. All these Bond fans should maybe look at their valves .They are all a joke, and evidently would cheat themselves to get ahead.
