And what vaccinations/shots are needed during these months? I am asking b/c my husband and I will be moving to a different state when our baby is around 4 mos and the insurance at his new job will not take effect until our baby is 6 mos old.

Generally, they see the doctor for checkups and vaccines every 7-8 weeks until they're over 6 months old, then it's every three months until they're two years old. So, let's say, if your child has his 4 month old vaccines at 15 weeks, it's okay to wait until he's over 6 months old for the next round. (There just needs to be AT LEAST 7-8 weeks between the rounds of shots.)

They usually get the DPT (Diptheria, Pertussis, Tetanus), IPV (injected polio), Hep B (Hepatitis B), HiB (H. Influenzae B.), and Prevnar (pneumoccial meningicoccal) vaccines. Now, the first three I mentioned are offered as one combined shot called Pediarix - see if your pediatricians offer that, so instead of five separate injections, they get three. (HiB and Prevnar aren't combined with anything yet.)

If you can schedule the 4 month old visit right before you move that's even better if you have to wait until after six months old. =)

Good luck!!

Go just before baby turns 4 months and then right after they turn 6 months. That is the normal schedule anyways. Few days, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, then one year. My son got about 3-4 shots at each visit at this age. Sorry I can't remember off hand the exact ones.

They go 2,4,6,8,10 12 mos. normally. sometimes some vaccinations are combined etc and 8 month is dropped.
Ask current Dr. if you can put it off until 6mos if not contact new Dr. and see if they can give you some sort of break or check into health clinics to see if you can get a cheaper rate for out of pocket 6mos vaccination. Good luck

Call your pediatrician or family practicioner and ask them what your child needs during this time.
If you know he/she is due for vaccinations, check with your local health dept - often they are free of charge.
Your baby may be elegible for medicaid coverage (regardless of your income) depending on which state you're in. You may be able to sign up for medicaid for your child until his insurance is in effect. Depending on his new insurance, you may be able to send bills in retroactively for "well baby" checkups and vaccines and be reimbursed. He could check with his new HR dept and they would be able to tell you.
Hope that helps. I am an employer and have 4 children and we've had to do creative billing before. There are certain things any insurance company will cover - no matter what. Well baby checkups are one of them.
Good Luck!

Here in the UK babies don't see doctors unless they are sick. They usually see the nurse for their vaccinations if you choose to give them.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be so useless. Hope you find the answers you're looking for, though I suspect you'll have to contact the surgery direct, as I'm guessing each will be different.

a baby is usually seen at 2,4,6,9,12, 18mths and then every year after that. the shots given at 4 and 6 mths are Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTaP/DTP/DT/Td), Haemophilus Influenzae type b (HIB), Hepatitis B (HBV), IPV and Pneumococcal Conjugate. Your baby will be given one of each of these at both 4 and 6 mth appointments. It's quite a few and for me, hard to watch them give them, but that's it. good luck!
