it can vary from person to person & how dilated your friend is. with my 1st baby my waters broke but i was only 1cm dilated. she arrived 24 hrs later. but with my 2nd baby my waters broke & i was obviously already fully dilated because he arrived 20 minutes later.
the link below tells you how long each stage of labour can last for to give you some idea of how long your friends labour could last for.
hope this helps & try not to worry about your friend :)

Apparently it has to come out before 24 hours is up after her waters broke. It becomes dangerous for the baby too much longer after that.

unfortunately...your guess is as good as anyone's. No one will be able to tell you how long she will be in labor, not even the doctor. Unless of course they have to do a c-section. From now until the baby arrives, it's all up to the baby and your friends body.
Congrats, sorry I couldn't be more help

every labor and delivery just like every pregnancy is different. my water didn't break w/either of my 2 children. i do know that once a woman's water breaks they want baby to be delivered w/in 24hrs due to risk of infection after 24hrs. so hopefully she'll have baby before 10am tomorrow- probably sooner though.

first babies can take along time, mine was 9 1/2 hrs after my water broke, and that was considered pretty fast. Tonight probably.

its different for everyone. My water broke and I was in labor for 24 hours afterward... and that was even after I was induced.

It depends on her body! They "say" you dilate 1cm/hr. But sometimes its shorter and sometimes its longer. There is no set limit. I would say within the next 24hrs without a doubt!
