We hear reports of people in the USA being awarded insane sums of money in damages for what seem trivial mistakes. If one percent of these are true it is a serious matter. You cannot blame greedy lawyers. They are out for what they can get. I blame the courts and juries for abetting a system which seems to be a legal way of stealing someone's money. Unfortunately, this practice seems to be gaining ground in Britain. Don't play the lottery - sue someone!

We all know the cases to which I refer. Clearly, someone who has been injured as a result of someone elses negligence is entitled to compensation; but the sum awarded must be fair and related to th gravity of the injury. That case of the judge who sued a dry-cleaning firm for millions over a pair of trousers, for instance is mischievous and predetory. He deserves no more than the cost of the garment in question.

Your misguided comment has caused me serious mental and emotional damage.

I am almost inhibited in the way I can communicate on Yahoo Answers because of your statements.

I feel that you are in some way slighting me and causing me to have health problems, in fact it is disabling me and I will probably not be able to work again.

Your mention of one percent is obviously a slight on my Nationality and Ethnic background and you are using that figure to single me out as a minority.

You have ruined my life, in as much as you are forcing me into playing the lottery and in this I must now seek treatment for a sudden onset gambling addiction.

Further you are using the word 'insane' linked with my initials (USA) should I desire to change my name.

You have also used the name Sue, which has bought back terrible memories of my past, in which I never went out with one; and using the word unfortunate in that implied context is highly denegrating.

In consequence; I am now suddenly a gambler who is ill, deprived, Ethnicly challenged, disabled and thoroughly undermined and made to feel low life.

This has instantly brought on depression too!.

I am going to find a wonderfull friend in a Lawyer and sue you for mega bucks.

In closing, you have used the word blame; this implies guilt (probably aimed directly at me) and some Religions deal only in guilt, therefore you have cast a slight on my religious back ground too.

If it was your case then you would want to win.If you are injured and your insurance company is not helping then sue them. Also if you have a rich father who you didn't know you will sue him for a paternity test.Thats America, but I agree with you some trivial law suits.

We have too many lawyers and too many greedy people in the US. Most people are looking to get rich quickly.
