If you live in San Diego you want to get the book Afoot and Afield San Diego by Jerry Schad; best book around for San Diego area hikes near and far, short and easy or long and steep. In every bookstore in town and on Amazon.

Hello there. About 5 weeks ago I fumbled across a website as I was looking for softball leagues in my area. The website is called 'Meetup San DIego'. It has so many activities ans I have joined the running/jogging group. Each group has enthusiasts who are bascially experts in those areas of activities, sports, clubs...
I've inserted the URL below, but you can also search on Yahoo under search words...meetup, san diego, hiking.
It's free and I have been very happy with the running group...the people are absolutely fantastic, as I am sure the hiking folks are too.
Good luck,
Marty

There are several up at Daley Ranch in Escondido and the views are stunning. Take the I-15 to the El Norte Exit where you will see the signs to Daley Ranch. Turn left on La Honda Road and take it to the end, it dead ends at the Ranch. There is a sign post at the entry with all of the trails. Enjoy!
