I have 4 tetras, 1 female and the rest male, and the female keeps close to the ground in a corner while the rest are swimming around. she only comes up to get food or waits till the food sinks under the filter.

She is being chased and harassed by the males no doubt. The best solution would be to add 2-3 more females of the same type of fish.

I agree with Magicman, with the exception that Tetras are not Livebearers, so she really isn't pregnant, she is just full of eggs. As Magic said, getting more females would be the best option to keep them healthy.

If she's getting plumper every day, then yes she is pregnant. However, she could be getting fat as well. It is very hard to tell the difference between a fat tetra and a pregnant tetra.

Also, pregnant refers to something that has a living thing inside them, such as women. Tetras are egg - layers, so a "pregnant" tetra would be considered plump with eggs.
