I will be visiting next month with friends. Our hotel is close to the Palms, which is where all the events are taking place, but we wanna go on the strip as well. I'm wondering because I wanna know if it would be cheaper for me to just rent a car versus all the taxi rides with 4 people. Also, about how much is it from the strip to the airport in a taxi or shuttle service?

Very easy

The Palms has a free shuttle to the strip as do it's neighbors the Gold Coast & Rio. You pretty much have a free shuttle available 24hrs a day with those three.

Taxi info

$3.20 for the 1st 1/8th of a mile .25c for each 1/8 of a mile after the 1st - there is also a small charge for leaving McCarran in a taxi
TA phone # and a good one to write down and take with you

Deuce/CAT bus

Deuce - $5 for a 24hr pass
CAT - $2.50 for a 24hr pass

It would be cheaper to take a taxi from McCarran to the Palms than to take one of the pay shuttles(Grey Line, etc) which charge $5 or more one way and you have to wait, until they decide they have "enough" passengers to leave the airport then you have to wait as they stop at each to drop people off.

If you're going to want to do a lot of sightseeing I would go with the car, since there are 4 of you to split the cost. If you just want to run back and forth to the strip and your hotel, don't bother, the free shuttles will get you to the strip. Then you have plenty of options for getting around the strip, to downtown, etc.

It cost us $12.50 to the Orleans by taxi, so somewhere in the $12-$15 range, depending on traffic.

>If you travel light(carry on luggage) you can take the CAT bus from McCarran to your hotel. Catch the #108 or #109 North bus at "Ground Level Transportation 0". The bus stops about every 6 minutes. You transfer at Flamingo to the #202 West, which will take you to your hotel. >I only mention the bus because at times the wait for a taxi can easily stretch to over an hour(2 or more is not unheard of), when the AP is busy.

A limo from the airport to your hotel is actually slightly cheaper than the pay shuttles, and a heck of a lot more fun - Las Vegas Limo(the best IMO)

I just got back from Vegas a month ago. It is really easy to get anywhere on or off the strip. Depending on how much traveling you plan to do away from your hotel and events, you might want to consider renting a car. But if you don't plan to go anywhere far then take a cab and split the fare between you and your friends (that right there will be the cheapest way to go). I don't remember seeing the Palms, but along the strip to get anywhere you can always ride the monorail, which is very cheap. And to answer your question from the airport, if you get the shuttle included with your airfare, it's only $10. If not, I'm not sure exactly how much it is, but I'm sure it's right around there. Have fun! Vegas is great!

site visitors can s*ck on the Strip no count what way you slice it, so till you have have been given the persistence of a saint or are used to being surrounded by potential of loopy drivers, it extremely is not had to hire a motor vehicle. strolling is by potential of a good distance the wonderful way on the Strip. there is the Deuce that's rather a commute (it extremely is a pair of dollars according to holiday) that runs continually. there is likewise conventional shuttles and cabs up the wazoo. as properly - all you will extremely need is to get from the hands to between the motels on the Strip. in case you cab it from the hands to Bellagio and walk to the different motels (or use the trams between Mirage and TI, an Excalibur and Mandalay Bay or use the monorail) you will nonetheless come out forward financially for the main area. the way i glance at it extremely is this - an ecomony motor vehicle (that's enormously plenty a motorized curler skate, using fact the condo companies use enormously teeny automobiles) is going to value you approximately $one hundred twenty for 4 days (something midsized is going to be yet another $50 or so) and gas is approximately $3 a gallon - so which you're observing actual $a hundred and fifty to $2 hundred for only that. it extremely is approximately $40 to $50 a individual minimum. in case you cab it as much as the Strip (enormously in case you circulate to the closest inn to the hands - that's the two Caesar's or Bellagio) and use the monorail or walk or take trams, you will spend approximately 0.5 that. a three day bypass on the monorail is $40 a individual - for limitless use. Plus, you do no longer might desire to handle site visitors - somebody else gets that aggravation! A cab from the inn to The hands is approximately $15-$20 plus a tip, as long as you do no longer enable the motive force take the tunnel - that'll tack on yet another $20. (only tell the motive force which you are going to the hands and which you will choose them to no longer take the tunnel.) chop up among 4 human beings is at maximum approximately $6 a pop with the top.
