I have been hearing the US will convert to the metric system since I was a small child. I don't think it will be in my life time. I think we are all creatures of habit. As long as we teach our units of measure and people continue to use them, we will never go metric.

I don't know, but it's embarrassing to be the only country in the world that doesn't use it. I feel that all it does is increase the language barrier, but perhaps this is the purpose for our own system. To make America establish itself as a new nation, we create exclusive measurements necessary for every day life. We don't want those americans going out into the scary world of real measurement!
