Go on a hay ride or something. I walked a lot with both my kids it didn't really help. But the hay ride, I went into labor the next day. Good luck.

Sorry, but even though walking is great for pregnancy and it can help you with an easier delivery, you can walk until the cows come home and baby will still come when it wants to come. There is a specific time for that wee one to be born and until that precise day and time, you can do anything and everything and it won't speed things up. Even if you are going through an early delivery due to medical situations that are happening to that fetus, that is the time it planned to come due to what ever caused that fetus not to remain intact until it was full term. When I was carrying my first child I wanted to have it while my sister was out visiting us in Colorado Springs. My husband and I went up to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo which at that time was at least a 5 hour walk around it all, and we did it three different times and still never had the baby. My daughter was born about a week after my sister left and still 3 days before her due date. On my last child, also a daughter, she was already 2 1/2 weeks past her due date and I just wanted to be done with carrying the heavy weight. My doctor told me to take some mineral oil or caster oil, a good 3 table spoons and sometimes it would help start labor because it cleaned you out so well. HUH! I did that twice, 48 hours apart and never had a thing happen to me, not even a hint of labor. When I went in for the next visit, I was 3 weeks overdue so he stretched my membranes and said I would be in active labor in a 24 hour period. HUH again! I finally went into labor 6 days later and just shy of 4 weeks overdue, on the baby's own time schedule. So like my mom always told us, sisters and sisters in law alike, "stick your thumb in your mouth and be patient because when the time is ripe unto picking, that wee one will stick it's head out on its own timetable and you can't pluck him from the tree any sooner."

I know how you feel but I can honestly say that walking dosen't bring labor on.

When I was 35 weeks I was 75% effaced & 2 cm dialated when I went into labor. My dr stopped the labor (I was 2 days short of being allowed to progress with my labor). We walked every day for 5 hours around WalMart and labor never happened. It got really frusterating. I finally gave up and when I had my 40wk visit the dr scheduled me for induction that Monday. I planned a nice weekend of shopping & going out to eat before the baby came, planning on being induced Monday. The night of my visit, I went into labor on my own and delivered my daughter on her due date. Babies come when they want to, I've learned that the hard way. With my son I walked for 2 weeks trying to get labor started and they finally induced me when I was a week and a half overdue.

Take it easy, you are on your feet enough being a waitress (again, I know how that is I worked as a waitress until the day before I had my first child). Your baby will come when he/she decides the time is right.

Good luck!

I'm 38wks and 2cm dialated and the baby's head could be felt because he's so low. The other day I walked all day long hoping it would help bring on labor and it did nothing. The baby will come when its ready. Walking really only helps when you are already contracting.

if your cervix is thinning & they can feel the babies head then it does`nt sound as if you`ve got far to go hun before your baby arrives!
walking can bring labour on but i think that they mean "a walk" rather than being on your feet all day. try a gentle stroll out of walk each day for as far as you can manage.
enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, i wish you a nice labour & enjoy being a mum when your baby arrives. good luck!

I walked 1/2 mile the night before my water broke with my 1st son. With my daughter, I walked all of the time and it never did anything, but keep me in shape. And with my 2nd son, we walked and walked and nothing ever happened. My doctor told me to have sex. There is something in the man's semen that makes the cervix soften and dilate.

you betcha!!! I didn't work with my first 2 pregnancies but my husband and I walked every single day cold or hot it didn't matter we walked. Both of my pregnancies were right on time. I was 2 days late with my 1st and on my due date with my 2nd. In fact my 2nd labor went too fast so they are inducing my labor with this pregnancy on Oct. 2nd. That is if I don't go sooner.

oh yeah, walking helps. a couple things my doctor told me to get my labor going was to drink castor oil mixed with root beer (if you like that pop) and to have sex. no lie. my husband and i did the walking and I drank the castor oil and our son was born the next day. we were too nervous to have sex, but i guess there's something in sperm that helps start labor. the castor oil and root beer together just taste like cardboard, it isn't terrible, just bland. congrats & good luck!

REgardless how much you walk if your baby isn't ready it isn't going to come yet. Certainly the walking helps it come sooner but you are still shy of your due date.

They dont come till they are ready. But walking after you have dialated a little can help.
