That statement was Man Code.
It says, I understand that you think my wife is wonderful.
I also do not want to hear your opinion of my wife.
It goes on to mean, that if you think you want her take
over the payment s( much like a used car).
The take over the payments remark is often used when some guy comes in and starts gushing about how great your wife is when you are not quite so pleased with her.
The other context is that her wonderousness comes with an appropriate cost and you have only seen one side.
I can get in big trouble for divulging this secret information so don't spread it around.

He was joking and actually- without having heard his tone when he said this- he may have been a little jealous...I'd be flattered! He probably thought the customer was being too friendly or flirting with you so that's why he said it, in a way he was letting the customer know that while he thought you were great- You were already taken!

That really was about all he could say without cursing the man. You took it personally. Plus the man is a customer. Be nice, he probably didn't even realize he was out of bounds.

sound s like a joke- but he was prolly felling a little insecure about the guy flirting with you it really depends on the tone he had when he said.

In other words he was making a joke out of it. What did you want him to do, punch his lights out, get arrested, go to court, and pay a fine? It was a joke! Try laughing!!!

sounds like he has a sense of humor and can be a bit of a smartazz sometimes. If he were my husband I'd have come back with a comment like - "please do! I come with a house, this store, his bank account and I'll let you refinance at a lower rate!"
C'mon hun, lighten up.

I don't know what to think about your husband, but by his comment I would think that maybe you were high maintenance.
