Humanity or the Homosapien species has no more value to the universe than any other species or thing. If it runs it's course into evolution or extinction is all based on factors that have nothing to do with the human ethical idea of 'worth'.

Human organism are valuable to the planet as food for other species or compost for the soil. At best the air we exhale helps the plant life but beyond that we only damage our environment until we are consumed by it. I may be a moron but I can't quite see the worth in that.

I think it does what it does, save it or don't it doesnt really matter. Were being very very human doing what we are doing, if we wern't doing it we wouldn't be so human. As for saving it though, save it from what? from ourselves? You could say should be HELP humanity, ie help us kill ourselves. Anyway, its up to you if you think we should be saved or not, there are no universal opinions. I personally think it would be a good thing if a few billion of us were killed off. Or something like that.

Humanity will rise and fall just like any other species. The only difference is that humanity will be extremely short lived in terms of Geological Time.

Sorry, don't understand the question. What is humanity?
I do, however understand the phrase 'Man's inhumanity to man.'
OED says, amongst other definitions, it is the quality of being humane, and there's not much of that to be found these days.
Humanity is definitely worth resurrecting.

I believe the Human Being to be one of nature's ( evolution's) 'dead-end roads' - like other species that over-evolved some physical parts it is going to cost us our survival that we over-evolved the brain.
So even we could be saved...
