One major factor influencing the American Revolution was government representation. As Colonists they were denied representation in the British parliament. If in return they were not taxed at the time the US could very well still be closely associated with Britain as is Canada [ much to my displeasure] The fact that the Colonists were subject to British Taxation without being represented in Parliament brought a great deal of support to the idea of forming their own Illegal Governments.

a lot of the Colonists came to North America in hopes of achieving a level of freedom that would have been impossible under the system of classes that evolved from Feudal systems in Europe. Owning their own land was an impossible dream in Europe at the time as was the concept of Legally hunting [ in europe this was reserved for the ruling classes or royalty]

The colonists did not influence the Government they Built it to represent them and Govern their Country. they wrote a Constitution as a basis for a set of principles a country would be founded on. they defined the government and any limitations on it's roles in society. Partly based on what they didn't want to see from their past; partly on what they hoped to achieve in the future. At the time there were not too many examples to choose from and the current system is still far from perfect.

Are you sure this isn't a homework question?

Here's one way. The British colonists had seen a great deal of what DIDN'T work in England--for example, England had an official religion, and you could be taxed more heavily for belonging to the wrong religion, or you could be barred from holding office. That's one reason the colonists created measures that would protect the separation of church and state. In fact, many of our rights are a direct response to rights the British, at the time, did not have.

An intriguing bit of trivia? The Founding Fathers were also influenced by the successful democracy of the Iroquois Confederacy, right here in North America.

Without the colonists, there'd be no govt to form.

But if you mean their attitudes -- most of the colonists came here fleeing oppression -- so they attempted to create a govt that was not allowed to oppress them, and not allowed to regulate their daily lives.
