Over a lifetime, most people get numerous opportunities, or at least come to forks in the road where the choice determines their future path. Sometimes there is no going back. We exert control getting to those points, but the day and time when the decision must be made is often thrust upon us. We steer, but the waves and the wind carry us to our destination.

This is dificult to answer because I know what you want me to say but I cannot say it. I can't say I believe that little 10 y/o girl was destined to be ripped from our lives when a car hit her. I cannot say I believe a child was DESTINED to be sexually abused because some day they would use that tragedy and create something beneficial to all others who experience that.

I am a scientist, an observer, and a believer in my own abilities. I believe I will contribute to my own path as much as others will shape that path. I believe I will suffer the consequences of my actions. I believe sometimes bad stuff happens because someone else had a bad day and it was out of my control. I also believe my attitude can determine a whole lot of my future. The ability to let things bounce off me is something I cherish.

SUCCESS is 90% attitude 10% aptitude.

The only thing I am destined to do is to live up to my own standards.

The only person I am destined to become is the person I think I am.

if you put your belief in destiny then you have no faith. Destiny is not programed to control each persons life. Yes somethings may happen and seem to be a result of fate, but I think most extraordinary things in ones life are the results of happenstance or preparation. It appears to me that most people who are prepared by a strong faith are better able to deal with extraordinary circumstances than those who believe in fate. When someone of weak or no faith encounters a negative extraordinary event, they tend to blame it on fate and if it is a positive event, they will claim it was meant to be or it was good luck. In my mind, a strong faith gives you control over your own destiny with predictable results. If you want happines and peace, find something positive to believe in and you will be destined for a satisfying life.

i do no longer think in destiny the two. There are actually not something yet our very own alternatives in this international. we are the creators of our very own destiny. With that being pronounced, Christians have chosen to renounce their very own destiny to God. He chooses what turns into of a Christian, no longer the Christian him/herself. some Christians call this windfall. windfall does no longer observe to those outdoors of God's Grace. Christians settle for all that is composed of them (the two evil and stable) as originating from God Himself. St. Paul has pronounced that all and sundry issues artwork for stable to those that love the Lord. (Romans 8:28) some Christians tend to love people who're toughest on them the main. They see their persecutors as brokers of God's correction. As an agent of God's correction, the persecutor turns right into a Christian's perfecter. A Christian strives for perfection in this age.

I also think that it's a combination of the two. Even when there is an overall plan, things may or may not go according to it and since people have free will there is always the opportunity to choose.

I believe that we are self-determinant. It's only in looking back on an event that we say it was "destined' to happen.
