I have a brother who got a felony conviction and after he finished his sentence, he came home with his head completely shaved bald and some suspicious tattoos. I am concerned he might have joined a gang because I hear some white particularly racist gangs shave their heads.
But when I asked him if that meant he joined a gang, he scolded me and made me feel stupid. He said "It's not like every man in the world with a shaved head is in a gang. Sheesh." But he never answered me! He did not come out and say he wasn't in a gang, he said "not every bald man in the world is in a gang". He wouldn't give me a direct answer.
I said I wasn't asking about every man in the world, I was asking about him! But he kept being evasive. If he is in a gang, Iam going to plant my big sister foot right on his butt and give him a talking to. Especially if its a racist gang. Am I being too suspicious?

Thanks. I have concerns about having him around me if he is doing things he shouldn't so I was just being careful. He is mooching and having me chaufer him around and stuff and I don't want to get into anything scary, and honestly he is scaring me. But you all are right. I should give him a chance. He needs someone to believe in him. Obviously he's violated my trust before and I have issues with that. But I will try to give him a clean start. Thanks.

and I will look up the tats, since people said they are more important than the bald thing.

prisoners get their heads shaved right off, a lot of them keep it that way, less things to pull on if its a riot, as for the tatooes, they could just be ink and not gang related

The tattoos are going to be more meaningful than whether his head is shaved or not. If you're curious, see whether the prison he served in has an "intelligence officer" or someone whose duty it is to monitor gangs. Describe or show the tattoos to him or her and you'll get an answer.

As to how far you'll get kicking his butt, well, that's another issue. People don't change unless they're motivated to. Let's hope that now that he's out, he'll move in a more positive direction.

He is right that not all people with shaved heads are in gangs. However. you are right to be a little suspicious under the circumstances. Play amateur detective. Draw sketches of his tattoos and take them to your local tattoo parlor. They should be able to tell you what they mean. If it proves to be true - plant TWO big sister feet on this butt!

Sounds like he things you are prying and noisy. As he said, not everyone with a bald head is in a gang. If you have the need to judge him, do so based on his actions instead of his appearance.

Personally hun I dont know your brother. Would shaving your hear make you a gang member? No. But, its the afflciation he has with people. So my best suggestion is to keep loving him and give him loving advice if it becomes evident that he is in a gang. Every man makes his decisions in life but there are consequences associated with them. I hope this helps. :)

You should look up the tattoos... they will give you more clues than anything else. I'm not too sure about the bald gang thing at all... perhaps you should look up K.K.K or any other racist gang that you may know of.

for some it is indeed a "sign" of gang membership, for others it is just a fashion statement, the same can be said for wearing all black, whether a person is a witch or sorcerer or a vampire or just attending a funeral i mourning.

tatooing has always been gang membership thing

While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

You can ask him how come.

Some people with medical problems can lose their hair.

If the prison was a violent place, losing ones hair gives the enemy less to grab onto.
