I would say that it may be self defense depending on the aim and the quality of your shot. if you miss him its just plain bad aiming, regardless of whether its a LEO or civilian.

You've got no business shooting at a cop. Ever. No it's not self defense. You must have been doing something wrong, and in that case, I'm all for cops shooting the criminals.

This question is too vague, If you point a gun at a police officer, and he shoots first, it is not self defense. If you do any action which justfies the officer in using deadly force, you cannot use self defense as an excuse.

Doubtful - I believe that police departments only use excessive force (including shooting) when there is a significant threat to themselves or civilians. They would have shot in defense of themselves or others, so you were already perceived as a threat. You can't claim self-defense for that.

No, if a policeman has reasonable fear for his or her safety they can shoot. Your question indicates that you were armed and were going to shoot, the cop just got the round off first. Too bad you are still alive to compose this message.

He may get it for shooting first, but if you shoot at all you will come out on the losing end and go to jail.

If a cop shoots at you first, chances are you have had plenty of opportunities to drop your weapon as requested. Having chosen not to do so gets you shot at, and if you shoot back, it is not self defense. Duh!
