Much of it is a financial argument, yes.
Many people have invested in an industry that is massively harmful to the environment, and that is doomed to failure because it relies on non-renewable resources.
So, rather than find something else to invest in -- they want to drag out the dominance of that industry as long as they can.

Because for the majority they just can't get enough. Once again I see answers that show the majority of the wealthy put the almighty dollar over and above a human life. It's just plain disgusting. They bad mouth those who make just above poverty level like they are not worth breathing the same air as the rich yet if it weren't for those working in slave like conditions earning a wage that doesn't pay enough to buy a pot to pi$$ in they wouldn't be wealthy in the first place. I am not saying that all the rich and wealthy are heartless but when are those that are going to see that all the material crap they buy and all the money they have will do them no good in the end because sorry, you can't take it with you when it's all said and done. They want to hold onto their oil and coal so they can continue to screw the small people at the pump and continue to buy their toys while those who suffer go without. Way to go compassionate conservatives. Showing again your true colors - Red, Whit, Blue and Green.

Not sure what interests your are talking about. If it is increasing the taxes paid on the sales of these items, and turning the money into another gov't funded program, then the problem is stealing money because people believe oil co. make to much money.
If it is about restricting the ability to harvet coal and oil, tell me, what should we do while we develope the ability to have cost effective alternate fuels?
If you are talking about raising capital gains taxes, then keep your hands of my money, no matter HOW I make it, as long as it is legal.
I have been very smart as to where I have placed my money, which is why I am no longer working poor but upper middle class. Maybe if the guy who lived next door when I was down there had done the same thing, he could have moved up too.

I guess because they really wish to dominate this planet, so they must work toward the goal of owning its limited ressources... Its funny that they say that they work, as all their money come from ressources, and they only dig it out to exploit it... Wow, what kind of creative work is that. I guess it takes everything to make a world, but I definitly don`t want to be that thing...
Non productive thing! As for oil usage, well its no big deal, we already have fuel cells that works without oil subproducts, so lets go ahead with this technology!!! The world will become a better place if we do so!

Once we do find a viable, alternative resource, rest assured, there will be democrats complaining that someone is making too much money and that's usually because it's not them!
Keep in mind. The leader of all things environmentally friendly, Al Gore, spends more than 20% the national average to heat/cool his home in a month than I will in two years!
Check out this link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp
Now tell me again, about environmentalism Mr. Gore?

Because left wingers talk out of both sides of their mouths. They garnish their votes by saying get out of mid east oil yet choke our country on domestic oil.Sounds to me they bought futures in alternative fuels.Wars are fought for,and with oil.

Evidently you must be live in a warm climate where natural resources aren't needed to keep you alive in the winter.

I find it interesting that you and Don W attribute this anger to greed, yet you are advocating the confiscation of something from someone who earned it, to give it to someone who didn't.
Don W - And I guess the only way to achieve this ideal is through MORE government, right?

Is there a substantive question in there some place?
I think your point is that I should feel guilty over my success. If that's the case, sorry, I don't. I celebrate it and wish the same for all others. Perhaps you should feel guilty, rather than resentful, of your failure.
Still, I respect you and am hoping that you're genuinely happy in your poverty.

That big guy speaking for the mines yesterday looked like he was about to cry when talking about the necessity of coal and just how important he and his mines are to america.
I had to chuckle a bit
