Try putting some mothballs in different places in the basement spiders don't like them.
I hope this helps you with your question.

you might want to bug bomb your basement with spider spray but be carefull they might just run straight out of the house with their eight legs so you might want to try bombing when no one is in the house.

Feed 'em hot fries. Like, place them in a little bowl in the corner. The spiders become your friends and they will leave you alone. It worked in my basement and my garage! I know this sounds crazy but trust me.

you can buy things called bombs at home depot. You set it in the middle of the room pull the tab and leave for about 3 hours. Its basically fumigating the house/room

go to your local home depot (or where ever it is sold) and buy something to spray around the perimater of your house. it keeps spiders out, and kills all the ones inside.
or, if you dont want to buy stuff, take a day and just start stopping lol. :)

Well... It indicates that they have lots of food around in form of other insects like flies, mosquitoes and such. If you want to decrease the amount of spiders - decrease their sources of food.

If your problem is flies, get spiders to catch the flies.
If your problem is spiders, though it may seem absurd, you need to get yourself a bird.
If birds are your problem, get a cat.
Cats... dogs.
Dogs... goats.
Goats... cows.
Cows... horse.
