You need to visit the Philippines and do some island hopping and check out the different places and find one that you feel comfortable with, I live here in Cebu and love it. You should also join some yahoo groups and talk to others that have moved here.

I retired in Iloilo City 5 years ago. All the benefits of a big city, yet easy to get out to the countryside in 15-20 min drive. Many nice resturants and resorts too. About 1/3 less cost than in Manilla or Cebu.

Lots of nice places in the Visayas (middle) and allot less likely to get hit by a typhoon than on Luzon or some other places.

I would start in Iloilo and also visit Bacolod and Dumgetti. Heck might as well island hop for awhile. If you stay inPension houses it's relatively cheap to stay there and have creature comforts like hot water showers and aircon.

Well that all depends on what you like. The PI has many islands and they all have their own little quirk. If you are going to live & retire in PI I recomend you do some traveling around the islands before make a desicion. You are going to find paridise somewhere .

Like Jan-na said, I think any of the provences are nice. Clean, laid back...I'd like to retire in a beach community there in the Philippines.

Tagaytay. Close enough to Metro Manila, yet far enough to be pollution-free. The weather is perfect. Lots of places to go to.

Home, it is where your heart is.
You do like to spend the rest of your life together with your family don't you?
Why choose when you can already have it in your own home.

---There's no place like home---
