does anybody remember when cars had normal engines in them

Normal engine? I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean mounted front to rear as opposed to sideways? Front wheel drive cars are typically mounted sideways. Or do you mean engines with carburetors? Fuel injected is vastly superior to that.
Perhaps you could re-post ur q with more info.

I think so. But what I enjoy remembering most is being able to play outside in Bronx, New York, with my friends after the sun went down, without fear!

Normal as in the kind that tended to break down over the tiniest thing, like a wet sparkplug?

Yep ! I had one recently. A simple Chevy 350 , 350 turbo tranny . Parts are cheap and they are easy to fix. GOD !! I loved that car !

I still love my boyfriends Chevy 2500 V8 6.0, He said the engines a little more on the "New technology" side but I don't care... it's pretty!

you mean the ones where you could actually get to the spark plugs....and buy parts at any parts store..yep.

back in the day and they were real heavy, and all it took was gas ,water &oil.

Yes, especially when they had carburetors, not fuel injection...:)
