Ramayana tells about Rama or Ramachandra, the prince and king of Ayodhya, was the 7th Avatar of Lord Maha Vishnu, appeared in the Treta Yuga.

Mahabharata deals with the avatar of Lord Krishna was the 8th avatar of Lord Mahavishnu, appeared in Dwapara Yuga.

The Treta Yuga is the second out of four yugas, or ages of man, in the religion of Hinduism, third Yga was Dwapara Yuga. So Ramayana happened earlier than Mahabharata-

Ramayana ~ according to Wikipedia. Both deal with religion and legends for India. I really enjoyed studying the Mahabharata in class.

ramayan. ram was the avatar of vishnu's before krishna. and krishna was part of mahabarat.
